Sure, it did alright at the box office, and apparently did <em>really<\/em> well on Netflix streaming, but why was that? In a word: Boredom. Think back to that lofty summer six years ago &#8212; <em>(Jesus Christ, 2019 was six whole years ago<\/em>) whose multiplex slate was utterly dominated by one company. <em>Avengers: Endgame<\/em>, <em>Toy Story 4<\/em>, <em>The Lion King<\/em>, and so on and so on: the point is, anything that seemed different than kid fare or superhero stuff was rapturously received. It&#8217;s not really like <em>Ready or Not<\/em> changed any of that &#8212; it was, after all, a Fox Searchlight release post-acquisition &#8212; but it&#8217;s telling that some mid counter-programming would do well enough to warrant a sequel half a decade later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yep, the Radio Silence gang got understandably pretty pissed off when the finale to their <em>Scream<\/em> trilogy collapsed and went back to Searchlight for a second shot at their original concept. The studio dropped a trailer on Wednesday, since it&#8217;ll screen in theaters for the FNAF crowd this weekend, and it features what might be the most painful missed lay-up in a title we&#8217;ve seen in some time. How on Earth do you add a &#8220;2&#8221; to <strong><em>Ready or Not: Here I Come<\/em><\/strong> and not hate yourself? Yes, that&#8217;s right: The title is <em>Ready or Not 2: Here I Come<\/em>. God help us all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Peep it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"READY OR NOT 2: HERE I COME | Official Trailer | Searchlight Pictures\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/7K3sNRm8J0w?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s a synopsis for <em>Ready or Not 2: Here I Come<\/em> (ugh!):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;Moments after surviving an all-out attack from the Le Domas family, Grace (Samara Weaving) discovers she\u2019s reached the next level of the nightmarish game \u2014 and this time with her estranged sister Faith (Kathryn Newton) at her side. Grace has one chance to survive, keep her sister alive, and claim the High Seat of the Council that controls the world. Four rival families are hunting her for the throne, and whoever wins rules it all.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Ready or Not 2: Here I Come<\/em> (blah!) hits theaters on April 10. Just remember, guys &#8212; it&#8217;s not too late!
