The turnover on Lowell\u2019s ever-changing Merrimack Street continues: Koto Lowell<\/a><\/strong>, a live music venue and “small bites” restaurant, is closing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The business revealed the news on social media<\/a> this weekend (November 15), stating that it will shutter \u201cfor good\u201d at the end of the month. The business opened at 76 Merrimack St. in July of 2024<\/a> as a sister location of Koto in Salem, Massachusetts, which is also a hybrid venue and eatery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mill City iteration of Koto spans three floors<\/a> and debuted with a full sushi menu. Over the summer, however, the business shifted to “small bites” offerings<\/a> to focus on “the heart and soul of Koto — live music, entertainment, and events.” In addition to providing a performance space for New England artists, Koto Lowell also welcomed burlesque and drag shows, “day parties” with DJs, comedy nights, and fundraisers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cKoto has been more than a venue \u2014 it\u2019s been a home for creativity, connection, and community here in downtown Lowell,\u201d the announcement states. \u201cWe\u2019re endlessly grateful to everyone who performed here, attended a show, rented the space, or simply supported what we were building. Your energy and encouragement kept this place alive, and we can\u2019t thank you enough for being part of the journey.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The announcement ends with confirmation that scheduled events will continue through the end of the month, and invites guests to \u201cjoin us for one last round of music and good times together.\u201d Remaining events on the calendar include karaoke, a Thanksgiving Eve party, and performances from artists such as Indoor Friends, Fallen Monarch, and D.O.P.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
