Nonsensical times call for nonsensical chants of optimism — and if those chants are set to seasonally-appropriate rock, even better. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Dream at the top of your lungs \/ This is how we dance” goes the refrain of “This Is How We Dance,” the title track of Winterpills<\/a><\/strong>‘ latest LP. The Northampton band’s first album in nine years arrived like a snow squall last week (November 14), flecked with crystals of shivery rock and glimmers of folk. This Is How We Dance<\/em> is an audacious, expansive work, yet somehow also trancelike, as it waves dusky guitar riffs from the likes of “I’m In The Story” and “Wild” in your face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Which brings us to our original point: How does one dream at the top of their lungs? With grounding, deep breaths? With hopeful cries? As long as folks are still dreaming — perhaps in part from this album — the answer doesn’t really matter. Tune in below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
